AB500 Rarity Scores
AB500 Rarity Scores — User Guide
A quick, user-friendly overview of how we measure rarity for Art Blocks across the AB500 universe.
What these scores are
Rarity Scores show how special your pieces are, independent of price. Because collections have different sizes, we first standardize rarity and then roll it up per universe and per account.
- Scope: Scores are calculated per Art Blocks universe (there are six) and shown per account.
- No zeros: Scores are on a 1–1000 scale. You shouldn’t see 0. If you do, it’s a data issue—please let us know.
The two scores you’ll see
RarityScoreTopPick
RarityScoreTopPick
For each collection you hold in that universe, we take your single best token (the one with the highest normalized rarity) and sum those best-in-collection scores across the universe. Think: curation power — one slightly rarer token in a collection beats many slightly less-rare ones in that same collection.
RarityScoreAll
RarityScoreAll
We sum the normalized rarity of every token you hold in that universe (ranked tokens only). Think: stack strength — quantity and quality both matter.
No weights are applied. These are pure rarity views that sit alongside Valuation, Cost Basis, NFT Count, and Distinct Collections.
How normalization works (plain English)
We convert each token’s rarity rank within its collection to a common 1–1000 scale so scores are comparable across different-sized sets (the rarest in any set maps near 1000; the most common maps near 1). No formulas required to use or understand the scores.
How to read your scores
-
“10 vs 1” in the same collection:
- TopPick: the wallet with the single rarer token wins.
- All: the wallet with ten less-rare tokens usually wins (everything adds up).
-
Across collections: TopPick rewards breadth of great picks; All rewards depth + breadth.
-
Ties: If two tokens share the same rarity rank, they receive the same normalized score—this is expected.
FAQ
Why don’t I see 0 anymore? Scores are defined on 1–1000 for ranked tokens. If a 0 appears, it indicates a data sync issue—please contact support.
Do these scores equal value? No. They’re designed to complement price metrics. Rarity measures relative specialness within collections; valuation reflects the market.
Will you add weights (e.g., liquidity, tiers) later? Possibly. Today’s release is intentionally unweighted for clarity and comparability.
